Howling Time for Weirwolfs.........

A full moon (John Foxx/Getty Images)
Friday night will be the biggest one of the year as Earth's natural satellite reaches its closest point to our planet. It will be just 221,560 miles away, making it 14 percent bigger in our sky and 30 percent brighter than some full moons during the year. Tides will be higher, when the moon is closer, tides are pulled higher. It will rise Friday evening right around sunset, no matter where you are, and appear even larger than it will later in the night when it's higher in the sky. You will see all this on each night surrounding the full moon, too, because the moon will be nearly full, rising earlier Thursday night and later Saturday night.
People who swear that more crimes are committed, more babies are conceived and born, and more people are admitted to hospitals on nights where the moon is full. In the course of 15 years in the Miami area it was found that violent crime was more likely to be committed on--you guessed it--full-moon nights. It is thought that full moons bring out other scary behaviors, such as arson, risky driving and kleptomania. Do you have any crazy-but-true full moon stories? If so, share!
