Marvel Is Bought............

The stock deal sent Spidey senses tingling in the comic book world. It could lead to new rides, movies, action figures and other outlets for Marvel's 5,000 characters, although Marvel already was aggressively licensing its properties for such uses. Marvel would follow another storied comic book publisher into the arms of a media conglomerate. DC Comics, the home of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, was bought by Warner Bros., now part of Time Warner Inc. in 1969.

Kennedy Dead at 77

Because Kennedy never made it to the finish line, he never had to endure a post-presidential twilight. Kennedy Serve America Act of 2009, a law that expands support for national community-service programs. In the last year of his life, with the inauguration of Barack Obama, he had the satisfaction of seeing a big part of that dream fulfilled. In early 2008, when Obama had just begun to capture the public imagination, Kennedy bucked the party establishment. Just before Super Tuesday, the venerable Senator from Massachusetts enthusiastically endorsed the young Senator from Illinois, helping propel Obama to the Democratic nomination and ultimately the White House.

Our prison's a full of terminally ill inmates, and we are not freeing them because of ill health. Just think of what could happen if we allowed terminally ill inmates free, to roam the streets until they die?

Just think, if they allow Kadhafi to live here in the US, then he's taking advantage of the nation, he once fought against.

Marijuana Growers May Have Started Fires........

Wildfire investigators in California are looking for marijuana growers tied to a Mexican drug cartel whom they suspect ignited a blaze that has charred more than 87,000 acres of a national forest. It is believed to be the first major wildfire in the state caused by drug traffickers. A cooking fire in a marijuana drug trafficking operation is believed to have started the fires. The operation is believed to be run by a Mexican national drug organization. There is evidence that the unburned marijuana garden area has been occupied within the last several days. Investigators found tens of thousands of marijuana plants growing in the area. They say that not all the marijuana growing can be linked to the Mexican Drug Cartels.

Protesters Near President's Speech

Gun-rights advocates say they're exercising their constitutional right to bear arms and protest, while those who argue for more gun control say it could be a disaster waiting to happen.

Phoenix police said the gun-toters at Monday's event, including the man carrying an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle slung over his shoulder, didn't need permits. No crimes were committed, and no one was arrested.

"Just by his presence and people seeing the rifle and people knowing the president was in town, it sparked a lot of emotions," it was said. "We were keeping peace on both ends."

One Year, Opt 2nd.........

It's not a bad signing by the Eagles, getting Vick is a risk, but one that isn't nearly as great as you might imagine. It's surprising because the Eagles already have two quarterbacks, Vick would seem to be a third wheel. Maybe they'll play him at running back or run him in the Wildcat or sit him on the bench. It's not ideal that he signed with a team with two solid quarterbacks, but you know what they say about beggars and choosers. Philly will take a minor hit in this news cycle and probably another when Vick makes his debut.
It's my hope that he truly has learned his lesson and will do his best to become an outstanding young man in football, now that he has been given another chance. I certainly hope he doesn't turn out like Packman Jones........

Large U.S. food companies have been pushing the Obama administration to ease sugar import curbs, threatening higher consumer prices and possible job losses, citing forecasts for unprecedented sugar shortages. Kraft Foods Inc, General Mills Inc and Hershey Co warn that "our nation will virtually run out of sugar," if a USDA forecast is accurate. What the hell else is going to happen? If it's not one thing it's another............why in the hell can't America get it right? Darned politicians, are ruining what we had that was good, and now it's going to get worse.........

Bottles and instant noodle bowls are scattered on the floor of a convenience store in Shizuoka, 200km west of Tokyo. Powerful earthquakes just over 10 minutes apart rattled Japan and India, triggering panic on fears of a tsunami in the Andaman Islands and injuring more than 100 people southwest of Tokyo.

Cajun Women Are Tough.....

An elderly Cajun man lay dying in his bed. While suffering the agonies of impending death, he suddenly smelled the aroma of his favorite beignets wafting up the stairs. He gathered his remaining strength, and lifted himself from the bed. Gripping the railing with both hands, he crawled downstairs. When he reached the bottom of the stairs, he leaned against the door frame, gazing into the kitchen, where if not for death's agony, he would have thought himself already in heaven, for there, spread out upon waxed paper on the kitchen table were hundreds of his favorite beignets. Was it heaven? Or was it one final act of love from his wife of sixty years, seeing to it that he left this world a happy man? He threw himself towards the table, landing on his knees in a crumpled posture. His parched lips parted, the wondrous taste of the beignets was already in his mouth. With a trembling hand he reached up to the edge of the table, when suddenly he was smacked with a wooden spoon by his wife.
Stop she said. "Those are for the funeral."

Cameron Douglas.........

DEA agents claim they ran a 3-year investigation, proving the 30-year-old actor sold "multiple pounds" of crystal meth to several people, many of whom are now cooperating in the prosecution of Douglas. DEA further alleges that Cameron deposited and withdrew tens of thousands of dollars in cash from the drug deals. Agents ran a sting operation, in which they caught Douglas accepting $15,000 in cash in exchange for a promise to deliver a half pound of crystal meth. Douglas later followed up with the drug buyer and had the following conversation, using a drug code: "bath salts"
The docs say the sting hauled in somewhere around 215.2 grams of "ice." If convicted on all counts, Douglas faces 10 years to life in prison.

Douglas Arrested......

Law enforcement officials say the son of Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas has been arrested on a drug charge at an upscale New York City hotel. Two people familiar with the investigation say 30-year-old Cameron Douglas was arrested July 28 on a methamphetamine-dealing charge at the Hotel Gansevoort in Manhattan. He also was arrested in California in 2007 on cocaine possession charges.
