Afghanistan's opium production fell 10 percent last year and prices are at their lowest in a decade, meaning 'the bottom is starting to fall out' of the world's largest opium market, the U.N. said Wednesday.

Afghan farmers work in a poppy field in Kandahar in 2005. The United Nations has released a report claiming that opium production in Afghanistan has fallen for a second year with poppy cultivation down 22 percent despite fears that drug stockpiles were a ticking bomb.
